Invitation For California Latino School Boards Association’s Endorsement For  California School Boards’ Association Hispanic Member At-Large

Honorable Trustees and CLSBA Members:

For nearly two decades, the California Latino School Boards Association (CLSBA) bylaws have reserved a seat on our CLSBA Board for the California School Boards’ Association (CSBA) Hispanic Director At-Large to serve as an ex-oficio member. CLSBA is now interested in endorsing a candidate for the delegate position of Hispanic Member At-Large.

Why? CLSBA recognizes that a number of interested candidates for Hispanic Member At-Large are qualified to serve. However, CLSBA would like to endorse a candidate who would be representative of Latino/a/x elected school board members statewide, have a focus on improving educational experience for Latino/a/x students and people of color, and have values that aligns with CLSBA’s mission and vision. We believe the CSBA Delegate Assembly should know who CLSBA supports as a candidate that can best serve their functions and maintain and improve relations and communications between our respective organizations.

Ideally we would like to endorse a qualified and active CLSBA member. If you have submitted your interest for CSBA’s Hispanic Director At-Large position and would like for CLSBA to consider endorsing you, please follow the procedures below. Our endorsement committee will screen all interested candidates and submit up to four (4) candidates’ names for endorsement interviewed with the CLSBA Board. If you are selected for an interview, please expect to be interviewed via zoom, Saturday, October 8, 2022, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). (Individual’s times to be determined).

Endorsement Process

If you are interested in being endorsed for CSBA’s Hispanic Member At-Large, please provide the following information:

STEP 1:
Application (Window Sept. 9 through Sept. 30, 2022)

Send an email to CLSBA Endorsement Chair, Adam Escoto escotoa@mhusd.org with the following information by 11:59 p.m. on September 30, 2022:

A complete copy of your application to CSBA for Hispanic Member At-Large;
A signed letter of introduction that explains the following (not more than 2 pages):
1. Why you are interested in becoming CSBA’s Hispanic Member At-Large.
2. Summarize your involvement and familiarity with CLSBA.
3. Provide your perspective on the roles and relationship between CLSBA and CSBA and how you would work to maintain and improve upon the existing relationship.
4. List a summary of any significant accomplishments, length of service, and/or experience that would make you qualified to serve both on the CSBA Board and the CLSBA Board as an ex-oficio member.

Notice of Interviews and Regrets Out on Oct. 3, 2022

STEP 4:
Interview of Candidates by Board of Directors via Zoom, Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm)

Selection of Endorsed Candidate (Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 (Afternoon)
